Dexter Phillips or “Diggles” (stage name) is a St. Lucian soca artist, song writer and musician. He was born on November 15th, 1998 and currently resides in the community of La Panse, Castries, St. Lucia. Although he was singing and writing songs from a young age, Dexter’s actual career started in 2010. Since then he has been in several competitions such as Jr. Extempo 2014 (placed 2nd) and Jr. Soca Monarch 2015 (placed 2nd). He has also written, sung and released some songs e.g. “Soca Fever” and “Jumberified”.
The song Granny’s Motto, portrays a confrontation between the great Sesenne Descartes. Whom I am related to but never met face to face. This confrontation was one I not only wish I had with Miss. Descartes, but also imagined.
